On their journey, darkness, betrayal and violence lurks, but so does love, and seduction and the power to free themselves from their own pasts as they strive to fulfill the quest and protect the women they have come to love.

A thousand years ago, an angel was cast out of Heaven for having an affair with the Celtic Goddess Morrigeau.  Fallen, this angel is bent on revenge, and he returns to the Otherworld where he struggles with the goddess. In this fight, Annwyn is thrust into turmoil, until the supreme goddess of Annwyn—Cailleach—takes from the angel, his flame—the source of all his power—as well as the amulet for Morrigeau, the source of her magic. Stripped of powers, the angel is nothing, left in her crones form, Morrigeau is no longer able to seduce men. 

Hiding the flame and amulet within a statue that is guarded by mystical beings, they will stay there for a millennia where the flame will slowly extinguish, and the amulet will fade away—unless one of them finds it. But to find it, neither must use magic of any kind. To make it harder, Cailleach designs three different items that must be found that will forge a key that will in turn open the statue that houses the flame and amulet. Whoever possesses the items can forge the key, and whoever forges the key has the power to destroy their enemy and their entire world.

The end is approaching. The items have never been discovered. Desperation is at hand, and so is darkness. Both will stop at nothing to possess the flame and amulet, and both will use mortals and immortals to achieve their goals any way they can.
